General Manager
My construction experience started around 25 years ago while I was attending URI. I worked for a contractor who was developing a 25 house custom sub-division. My job was to be his assistant and to do whatever was necessary on any given day. It was here where I learned about all phases of the construction process, from clearing the lot, to the closing, and everything in between and after. I was fortunate to have had this opportunity and was lucky to learn as much as I did from a great teacher.
This experience prompted me to market and open my first small business, Decks Forever LLC. At first, we simply washed and stained people’s existing decks. We had two crews working in no time. It quickly became apparent that there was also a large demand for deck construction, particularly on ocean-front second homes and beach houses.
So, I added a building crew to the business. We designed and built custom decks out of many exotic materials. My main role was overseeing the projects, but I enjoyed getting into the hands-on work when needed. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the aspects of running this sort of business, I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse and sold the company.
At this point, I moved into a different career that I enjoy very much – teaching Physics and Chemistry to young students. Through the years, I have participated in and planned many home improvement projects on my own properties.
Most notably, I was the General Contractor for a major home remodel and upgrade. It was during this project where I was fortunate to arrange a partnership with a long-time friend and construction guru, Pete Paradiso. We formed Platinum Construction LLC, where I am in charge of all materials, vendor, and general business operations. Pete is the jobsite manager, main finish carpenter, problem solver, and quality control specialist. We look forward to offering you, our customers, the true Platinum Experience.
Job Site Manager; Finish Carpenter
I started in the construction business several years before graduating from high school. In 1995, I worked for my family-run, residential heating company. It was here that my father instilled in me a value of hard work and dedication. I worked nights, weekends, and summers until I graduated, and then worked for the business full time.
In 2002, a friend who knew me to be a hard worker and someone who quickly picked up on construction skills, offered me a job in his framing company. I spent a few years working for him, not only doing framing work, but also many other side construction projects in the sub-division where we were framing. That’s when I decided to start my own framing and construction business.
When the housing market slowed down in 2009, I sold my framing company and went to work for a commercial/residential roofing company. I eventually became a foreman. I spent winters working as a finish carpenter in 4000 sf homes, as well as taking on just about every construction-related side project and personal project you might imagine.
I have participated in more remodels and new home builds than even I believe possible. Now, I bring my years of experience to Platinum Construction where we focus on what I appreciate most about our business – providing our customers with quality workmanship and the highest standard of integrity.
